Counting Down to Baby J

We are in the final stretch of our pregnancy with Baby Jordan (affectionately nicknamed “Baby J”)!

She is our spring baby, while Raegan is our autumn baby. How awesome is it that I will have two children born in my two favorite seasons! Today, I thought I would share more about how Baby J came to be.

People always ask me if Baby J was planned. The answer to that is “yes” and “no”! You see, in January 2019, Joshua and I felt led to fast for 21 days. During that time, I stayed off of social media and really leaned into God. My desire was to reset my heart and seek direction for the year. Suffice it to say that the Lord did indeed reset my heart and provided conviction, encouragement, and direction. It was during this time that the Lord told us that we would have a spring baby and confirmed that we were to move to California! We were thrilled!

Of course, this meant we would be in for big transitions — moving from having one child to two, from a newly formed family of three to four, and from living in the South to moving to the West Coast.I have walked with Jesus long enough to know that transitions are very precious. They are opportunities for the enemy to attack, for my faith to waiver, and for me to choose to walk in disobedience if I allowed for what I see (rather than what I believe) to dictate what I would do. I knew that we would have a lot ahead of us — we waited for most of 2019 to move forward in God’s timing on the baby and our move. I personally decided to continue my fast indefinitely to focus on Jesus, healing my heart, honing in on my family, and preparing for our move. I wanted a pure heart above all else in that precious season.

I learned that we had a promise from God, and we have a choice to believe that promise over everything going on in our lives.

During that time, we received a ton of confirmation about the baby and our move. Of course, natural worries crept in — how are we going to move while pregnant? What about jobs and obtaining licenses? We will be even further from family and friends – how will we manage with two small children? Despite these obvious questions, we knew that the Lord was leading us out of Louisiana and into Southern California. His peace truly transcended all of our understanding, and we knew that He would provide for us just as He always has. No word from God ever fails (Luke 1:37).

He truly has gone before us and prepared the way. The Lord has truly shut my mouth with this pregnancy and move — I have no room for doubt. He literally instructed us every step of the way, from exactly when to try for Baby J to what house to live in. God has kept His promise to us — we are now in spring and will welcome Baby J soon, just as He said! “The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.” (Psalms 145:13). He always keeps His promises!

Despite all that is going on in this world, I am grateful that her birth coincides with the newness spring represents.  I am grateful that her birth coincides with the newness, fresh blooms, sunshine, and an awakening of the slumbering that spring ushers in.

A special thanks to Stephen at Cupid Brothers for taking these images of us. He made my family feel at ease, and Raegan especially enjoyed her photos!

  2. Thank you for this post. Thank you for your obedience shown as well, it convicts my heart as I allow doubt to creep in ( was that really God telling me to do this or that?) But as you said God is trustworthy…thank you..love this post and congrats on everything
